What a glorious day !! Both in terms of weather – hot and sunny all day and over 6 hours of free open air entertainment. There was something for everyone; over 20 events spread over 8 different locations around Hythe.
Outside Waitrose was singer Sarah Harvey, Hythe Ukulele Group and a children’s craft workshop run by Cornerstone Church.
On The Marsh was Ocean Harmony Barbershop Choir, The Mellow Tones Singing Group, Waterside Square Dancers and New Forest Meddlars Morris Dancers.
In the High Street there were further perfomances from Ocean Harmony, the Mellow Tones and New Forest Meddlars. This is also where the popular Face Painting Stall was set up
Outside the Library Prizin’ Hands puppets were set up and provided 3 shows for the children. There was also a further performance by New Forest Meddlars.
The Promenade became the ‘Energy Zone’ with Boogie Bounce Trampolines, Martial Arts and Tai-Chi demonstrations. In the afternoon Mortimer Sparks gave a performance of his children’s play (this replaced Forest Forge Youth Theatre who pulled out at the last minute – We are very grateful for him stepping in to ensure the entertainment continued). There was also a painting workshop run by John Edwards.
Street Theatre all around Hythe from Guy Heathcote and Mortimer Sparks, very popular with young and old alike. Hythe’s very own Town Crier was there to keep evryone informed of what was going on.
Outside Lloyds was a static display by the Police and Hythe’s ACSOs; Sarah Marsden provided two guided walks of Hythe which started at The Pier.
Here are some pictures (in no particular order) to give a flavour of the day….
