The search is on for the top local poets of 2010 in the Waterside Arts Festival Poetry Competition, sponsored by the Herald.

Poems can be on any topic up to a maximum of 30 lines and there will be prizes and certificates in three age categories: up to school year 6; up to school year 11; and adult.

The closing date is Friday 18th June and entries should be sent to:

Entries in the two junior categories should include a signed statement from a parent, teacher or carer verifying that it is the child's own original unaided work. All entries should include the writer's name. address, and date of birth.

As part of the Arts Festival there will be a Poems & Pints Night on Tuesday 29th June in The Malt Bar, South Street, Hythe, during which the prizes and certificates will be presented.
