The Mela Day at Gang Warily
The Waterside Arts Festival gets off to a great belly swing this year at Gang Warily Recreation Centre on Saturday 26th June.
Going Global is the through behind this event which is a celebration of world music, art and dance.
The day will include Belly Dancers, Workshops, Dance Schools and a lot more and will also include performance by guitarist Jonathan Prag.
Shimmy your way to a happier and more confident self by learning to Bellydance in the workshops.
The Dhol is a traditional North Indian double sided drum (see right) made from wood. One end forms the deep base sound and the other the high treble.
It is played with sticks called Dugga and Thili which are made from cane.
The Dhol is a very
loud, lively instrument which is very often associated with Bhangra music and parties!!
Come along and enjoy this free event which starts at 10 AM and continues through to 4 PM.
This event is sponsored by ExxonMobil and Npower.
